Portfolio photos

London's Tower Bridge is an iconic symbol of the city which crosses the River Thames. The bridge consists of two towers connected at the top by two walkways. I choose this picture as a "best of photo" because it is a landmark and also because of the color scheme.

If you are on your way to visit Buckingham Palace you may stubble across this hidden gem in Green Park. On the pathway to the palace there are these plaques in the ground showing remembrance for the late Princess of Wales. What I love about this picture is the contrast between the gold and silver plating. It was also a favorite of mine because of the experience I had when taking it. For the most part, the other individuals walking in the park never noticed this large plaque on the ground until I stopped to take a photo of it. Once they saw me stop and point my camera to the ground they all headed over to see what it was and immediately pulled out their own cameras to capture a photo.
One of the "must do's" in London is to witness the changing of the guards at Buckingham Palace. This photo stand out to me because the focus is not on the iconic Palace in the background, it is on the guards in front. Another reason I like this photo is because of the contrast between the guards red uniforms and the tan facade of the Palace. I also really like juxtaposition in this photograph.
The picture above is of one of the arch ways that lead in the China Town of London. What I like about this picture the most is the contrast between all the vibrant colors. I also like that even with it being a night time photo, it is still bright and full of color.

If you visit Edinburgh, Scotland this is a must do on your list. Arthur's Seat is the highest point in Edinburgh with amazing views. This picture was taken when climbing down the mountain when I realized there was a random set of keys hanging on this fence with no one around to claim them. Unfortunate for the individual who lost their keys but I'm very fourtunate for this beautiful photo of them.

This picture is one of my favorite photos that I took on a class trip to Highgate Cemetery.

  1. Your photo from Edinburgh is beautiful! I really enjoy the muted yet saturated colors in the image, as well as your perspective and depth. Your subject (the keys) are placed nicely in the frame and the depth of field in the background makes the photo even more engaging to look at. Keep it up!

  2. I really love how it seems like you're peering through plants at the tombstone. Nice angle! I think that if there was less ground in the China Town picture it would draw your eye to to cool bright gate even more.

  3. I love the picture in Edinburgh! The focal length is nice and I enjoy how the background is a little out of focus. I also love the picture of Buckingham Palace, but I think it would be even better if there was a little less of the ground and you could see the top of the building. These are really beautiful, great job.

  4. Alaina where have you been hiding these amazing photos! I love the last photo from the cemetery! There is so much going on between the cross being the in the background yet being the focal point and the blurred out leaves in the foreground serving as a sort of frame! Great shot my friend!

  5. the picture of Buckingham palace is so beautiful! I love the guards in the foreground and the building in the background. I think the guards also help to make it interesting rather than just the average picture you would see of Buckingham Palace. also, the picture in Edinburgh has a great focal length and is a very nice photo.

  6. My favorite photo of yours is your Edinburgh photo. I really love how the focus is on the keys and your explanation behind your photo. When I first saw the keys, it instantly reminded me of the yin yang symbol because of the white and black colors overlapping each other. I also really loved how the position of the keys were off on the side while you can see the majestic landscape in the background.

  7. The color in the archway leading to Chinatown is so stunning! Everything in this photo seems so alive and fun. The intensity of the light is perfect because it matches the lively energy of the people walking down the street.

The photo of Arthur's seat is genius... The fenceposts perfectly mirror the jagged rocks on the mountain. The small hint of yellow draws our eyes to the keys hanging on the fence in the foreground.
