Photography Lesson
This photo was taken by one of my favorite photographers Sawyer Hartman.
I choose this photo for many reasons, one being during my time in London I will
be traveling to Rome and visiting this exact monument; and two being, that this
photo is all around an incredible shot. I love that even though this huge
monumental structure is pictured, it is not the focal point of this photo. The
young lady in the middle ground is what pulls your attention which I think is
amazing given the structure behind her is so iconic. you can also see other
elements of photography within this photo as well. Including the
"Rule" of thirds going horizontal (bottom third is the pavement and
grass, middle third is the Coliseum and the top third is the sky), leading
lines (the walkway), diagonal lines (the slant of the Coliseum pointing to the
young lady), and juxtaposition (the different between the size of the young
lady and the Coliseum). With all these elements combined it creates this
amazing one of a kind shot and that’s why I chose it as one of my top favorite
photographs.
