This photo was taken by one of my favorite photographers Sawyer Hartman. I choose this photo for many reasons, one being during my time in London I will be traveling to Rome and visiting this exact monument; and two being, that this photo is all around an incredible shot. I love that even though this huge monumental structure is pictured, it is not the focal point of this photo. The young lady in the middle ground is what pulls your attention which I think is amazing given the structure behind her is so iconic. you can also see other elements of photography within this photo as well. Including the "Rule" of thirds going horizontal (bottom third is the pavement and grass, middle third is the Coliseum and the top third is the sky), leading lines (the walkway), diagonal lines (the slant of the Coliseum pointing to the young lady), and juxtaposition (the different between the size of the young lady and the Coliseum). With all these elements combined it create...
The photo of the window is so lush. You were able to get the exposure just right. It makes it seem like the plants are trying to get in through the window. I also really like that you chose to make that one boat yellow. It helps the focal point really draw your eye.
ReplyDeleteGreat angles and depth of field this week! I love the brighten beach shot with the focus on the rocks! I would like to see more bright shots similar to that one! I do like the Lacock Abbey window shot as well because the lighting is beautiful! Great work!
ReplyDeleteGreat photos all around this week! My personal favorites are "Margate beach" and "Lacock Abbey" with the plant leaves. I really love your choice to make one boat in color and the rest in black and white. It really makes the one boat stand out and creates great depth and contrast in your photo. I also like the light shadows from your "Lacock Abbey" photo and how the plants frame the bottom of the window seal. My only critique would be for your photo "Brighton beach." I feel like if you included the whole rock forms for the stacked rocks on the side of the photo, it would give the photo a more complete feeling. But I love the rule of thirds in this photo!
ReplyDeletethe picture with the focal points on the rocks at brighton beach I think its one of your strongest, the contrast between the rocks and the water and the depth of field make for a really great picture. the picture from margate is really cool but I think it would look really cool if you left the whole thing in color so the viewer could really get a feel for the whole scene. these are all awesome photos and I love the variety!
ReplyDeleteAlaina, these rock! I love the Brighton one, it has such a playful mood to it and was such a cute idea. I also really love the Cauldron one from Lacock Abbey! The contrast between the black cauldron and the white windows creates an awesome effect, and the background is great! Nice work this week!!
ReplyDeleteThe way you isolated the yellow of the one boat at Margate beach is interesting and different for your work so far. Whenever I see one photo like that, I'm always looking for another one to go with it. The wet rocks on the beach are pleasing to look at and the brown with the light blue is a solid color combination.
