"Best of Photos" week one

This photo was taken at Arthur's Seat in Scotland. Can you spot Sarah? This photo was taken on our trip to Highgate Cemetary. This photo was also taken at Highgate Cemetery. This photo was taken at Highgate Cemetery. I loved the color of these doors and that's why I choose to take this photo. This photo is of the side of St.Pauls Cathedral. I loved how blue they sky was and how yellow the flowers were. It helped to create an amazing photograph.

London's Tower Bridge is an iconic symbol of the city which crosses the River Thames. The bridge consists of two towers connected at the top by two walkways. I choose this picture as a "best of photo" because it is a landmark and also because of the color scheme.   If you are on your way to visit Buckingham Palace you may stubble across this hidden gem in Green Park. On the pathway to the palace there are these plaques in the ground showing remembrance for the late Princess of Wales. What I love about this picture is the contrast between the gold and silver plating. It was also a favorite of mine because of the experience I had when taking it. For the most part, the other individuals walking in the park never noticed this large plaque on the ground until I stopped to take a photo of it. Once they saw me stop and point my camera to the ground they all headed over to see what it was and immediately pulled out their own cameras to capture a photo.  One of the ...

This photo was taken by one of my favorite photographers Sawyer Hartman. I choose this photo for many reasons, one being during my time in London I will be traveling to Rome and visiting this exact monument; and two being, that this photo is all around an incredible shot. I love that even though this huge monumental structure is pictured, it is not the focal point of this photo. The young lady in the middle ground is what pulls your attention which I think is amazing given the structure behind her is so iconic. you can also see other elements of photography within this photo as well. Including the "Rule" of thirds going horizontal (bottom third is the pavement and grass, middle third is the Coliseum and the top third is the sky), leading lines (the walkway), diagonal lines (the slant of the Coliseum pointing to the young lady), and juxtaposition (the different between the size of the young lady and the Coliseum). With all these elements combined it create...

Get to Know Me!

Image
Hey guys! My name's Alaina. I'm a 22 year old nursing major from Cincinnati, Ohio. I currently attend Northern Kentucky University and will be graduating in December! Yay! This will be my first time outside of the country and I'm so excited to see what London has in store. For you guys to get to know me a little better here is a list of some of my favorite things to do in my spare time. I love to watch hockey (LET'S GO PENS), I spend as much time as I can out on the lake wake boarding and skiing, I competitively danced for 14 years so I love dancing in general, and I also love to spend time with friends and family as much as possible. I'm a bit of an adrenaline junky too, so you can usually catch me doing something crazy at all times (i.e cliff jumping, and jumping off of bridges into water).    I hoped you learned a little about myself and I can't wait to do the same and meet everyone in London!
